What is Legal Secretaries of Louisville?
LSL is a non-profit educational association for legal secretaries whose members value ethics, professionalism, and continuing legal education. LSL was formed in 1996 to support local legal secretaries, through education and networking, in a demanding profession where quality standards and client expectations are growing ever higher.

Who can belong?
Membership is open to anyone who is presently or formerly employed in the legal secretarial profession or who is interested in the legal secretarial profession.

When are the meetings?
Membership meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month (except July and August) at 11:30 a.m. (RSVP for lunch). Educational speakers are featured.

Where?
The Bristol, 614 West Main Street, Louisville, Kentucky.

How much are the dues?
Dues are $25 per year. Cost of lunch is additional. Many employers will cover this expense.

• Education (LSL conducts study groups for various certification programs offered on national and state levels)
• Monthly Newsletter keeping you informed of the legal community, getting to know one another through biographies, learning of businesses that assist the legal secretary, and new job referrals
• Networking with other legal secretaries

Activities:

• Since 1999, LSL has sponsored an annual cookout for the homeless at the Cathedral of Assumption on Fifth Street.
• Assist Louisville Bar Association and Legal Aid Society at their Divorce Clinics.
• Sponsor a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) family during Christmas.
• Volunteer for Habitat for Humanity.
• Host an annual Boss Appreciation Luncheon and announce the Boss of the Year, Secretary of the Year, and Member of the Year.
• Hold bake sales at the Jefferson County Judicial Center.

Our mission is to increase the competencies of legal secretaries so that they may better serve attorneys, courts, businesses, and governments. Our Members include legal secretaries of all levels of experience who support their professional association with their time, talent, spirit, and resources.
